About Clifton

Clifton is a stunning and affluent suburb of Bristol. The name comes from the old English for “settlement by a cliff”. Located just a few minutes from the centre of Bristol, Manchester is 95 miles to the north and London 124 miles to the south.

The River Avon flows east to west through Bristol, by way of the Floating Harbour and the incredible Avon Gorge, before finally ending up in the Severn Estuary, making Clifton a very attractive place to live.

Clifton has some incredible Georgian architecture and there are many upmarket independent shops selling everything from art, fashion, food and jewellery through to furniture. Cosy cafés, pubs and excellent restaurants, all in a beautiful setting, make this an extremely popular area.

Clifton became a part of Bristol in the 1830s and is home to the stunning Royal York Crescent and Berkeley Square, where some of the houses already enjoy the benefits of plantation shutters which look as attractive from outside as they do within the home.
